Plans for 2022, A biodiversity Action Plan and Circular Economy Event

  Well, the New Year started off well for our group. We got word in January that we had successfully been awarded a grant of €4,000 in order to do a biodiversity analysis of our area. This is a great opportunity to work with an ecologist to get a detailed look at the different species in Kilcullen and to work on a plan to support all the ecosystems around us.  On the 12th February, some of our members met with Nuala, our ecologist, to take a walk around Kilcullen and discuss how to implement the grant. We chatted about the different areas and about how we might get schools and community involved.   Nuala then produced the first of the newsletters for the project. We are very excited to be working with Nuala and that the community will benefit from this grant! In TY we do the Gaisce programme, where you receive an award for doing 13 weeks of physical recreation, 13 weeks of community service and 13 weeks of a personal skill and at the end an extra 13 weeks of your preferred element. How it began

Kilcullen Community 4 Climate Action was set up by a group of individuals who want to develop community resilience and work towards caring for our environment. AIM The aim of the group is to form a community group which will empower people to make substantive changes in their lives in order to address the issue of climate change OBJECTIVES Members will find support and the opportunity to share and discuss ideas among like minded people On-going education will be a priority, as will linking up with like-minded groups. We have to date had a free book table in Kilcullen town, as well as a plant swap and a Water Blitz. We are also hosting a presentation and discussion about biodiversity and what it means to us as humans with regard to our own health and well-being. Full details here - Eventbrite
